Walter Jones (R-N.C.) will be the special guest on the live weekly radio program, the LaRouche Show on Saturday, May 12, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., in discussion with EIR Counterintelligence Editor Jeffrey Steinberg, with host Harley Schlanger, on the topic: "Defending the Constitutional Powers of Congress." The discussion will focus on the imminent danger of world war, if the Executive proceeds with its unlawful deployment of military force, which attempt, constitutes grounds for impeachment of the President. Rep. Jones, on March 7, submitted House Concurrent Resolution 107, which, in summary, is described as, "Expressing the sense of Congress that the use of offensive military force by a President without prior and clear authorization of an Act of Congress constitutes an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution." Jones's H.Con.Res. 107 is now filed with the House Judiciary Committee. Rep. Jones received an overwhelming vote of support in his home district (3rd Congressional District) in May 8 primary election. He won by a landslide of nearly 70%, with 42,000 votes, trouncing his challenger. The 3rd C.D. has one of the nation's largest concentrations of military personnel, including the Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, the Marine Corps Air Stations at New River and Cherry Point, the Fleet Readiness Center East at Cherry Point, and others. A bi-partisan Senate initiative, in accord with Jones' efforts against the war danger, came on May 9 from Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.), who issued a press release announcing that "he will introduce legislation to require Congressional approval before the President could take military action for so-called 'humanitarian interventions,' where U.S. armed forces might respond to crises abroad, but American interests are not directly threatened." Jones is also a co-sponsor of another strategic emergency measure, H.R. 1489, to restore the Glass-Steagall Act.
